Identity - Home
Identity is a term “used to characterize people”.
The focus here is on “which characteristics are considered essential in the self-image of individual dignity or of groups.” (Wikipedia)
Home, in turn, describes the “country or place in which the person was born and grew up or feels at home through permanent residence.” (Duden)
This project examines the connections between identity and home in the context of globalization and migration.
All of the people portrayed in this work no longer live in their place of birth.
The reasons for this are often hardship, existential constraints or professional and family decisions.
Each person involved was asked to bring five personal objects that symbolize the themes of “identity and home” for them.
This selection was deliberately left open and individual.
I show that internationality is something familiar and that the relationship to home unites us all.
